~ Vegetarian Cooking with Ram Rang ~

To complement the yoga class and help students make a transition to healthful eating habits, The Kundalini Yoga Center offers a vegetarian cooking class in the kitchen of the Baba Siri Chand Ashram. The kitchen is a wonderful space in which to master the art of vegetarian cooking . The granite counters, six burner stove, large oven and small class size allow each student to participate in the creation of delicious soups, salads, entrees and desserts.

Classes are taught by Ram Rang Khalsa who has been a vegetarian for over thirty years and has been teaching vegetarian cooking classes almost as long.  She has worked in the Golden Temple Restaurant in Washington, D.C., and ran a small
cafe in Puerto Rico where she lived for 25 years before coming to Florida.
Since joining the Baba Siri Chand Ashram, she has helped to prepare the
Tuesday night soup served after yoga class. She enjoys experimenting with
new recipes from her extensive cookbook collection and sharing them with her students. Her explorations of the farmers' markets yield the freshest local produce.

Each class has a completely different menu so students will have a varied selection of recipes from which to create meals. In preparing the recipes, participants learn to use a variety of grains, beans, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices. Students will also learn how to stock a vegetarian pantry, which utensils to use, and where to shop.
